The digital media revolution heralds a new age of instant information. Due to a flurry of innovation around web publishing, social networking and mobile connectivity, the media landscape is becoming more open, collaborative and participatory – in short, more social. This study assesses the impact of these changes on the business media – both from the perspective of journalists and the companies they are writing about.
Uncoordinated corporate communications always pose a risk. The risk increases, when a company finds itself in the midst of such processes as Mergers & Acquisitions, with multiple players entering the field and trying to influence the process according to their own agendas. This study argues that communication is not a black box but can be planned, when the single steps in the process are prepared thoroughly and interferences are anticipated.
